About Me
Welcome!
I'm Bekalu, I go by Bek.
I'm a multidisciplinary engineer currently working as an Automation Engineer in Minneapolis. I build systems that reduce manual work and make processes less annoying leveraging engineering principles.
I hold a master's degree in Computer Science from the USA and Electrical Engineering from Germany. I spent nearly five years in Germany as a graduate student, which taught me to adapt quickly, communicate across languages, and perform at the top of my class in a new environment.
Automation and Controls :
On a daily basis, I work on developing control and automation systems, including control logic and human-machine interface (HMI) software for devices and actuators. I program in Python and Structured Text, build HMIs with CODESYS, JavaScript and React. I also work extensively with networking and communication protocols (Modbus TCP/IP and EtherCAT) as well. I am aimed at creating clear, reliable, and maintainable systems that perform predictably in the real-world.
Data Engineering :
Automation systems generate data, and I spend a lot of time designing and implementing data workflows and pipelines to handle it reliably and automatically. I use Python, MQTT, AWS services, and Power BI to create monitoring, analysis, and visualization solutions. I also automate environment setup and system configuration using Docker and scripting to make systems scalable, reproducible, and easy to deploy.
I am eager to learn and grow in the field of automation and data engineering. Feel free to explore my projects on my website as well as connect with me on LinkedIn.
